Traveling to France , close to home, can be as exotic as going to the other side of the world. We are lucky to live in a country with an incredible diversity of landscapes, traditions and customs. From the heavenly beaches of the islands of the south of France to the endless beaches of the North, passing by the forests worthy of Canada in the Morvan, France has more than one tourist attraction and allows you to escape often just a stone’s throw from home.
We have been traveling the world for many years and have been feeding our blog with travel guides dedicated to faraway destinations, but we have always been keen to put travel in France forward at least in equal measure. It is therefore following numerous escapades to the four corners of France that we are revealing here today our 22 ideas for travel in France , 22 proposals and as many adventures to experience in our own country.
Travel blog in France: Staying on the Hyères Islands in the south-east
The Hyères Islands, also called the Golden Islands , off the coast of the town of Hyères Les Palmiers in the south-east of France, are in our opinion the best option to feel like you’re escaping to the tropics . Porquerolles Island, Port-Cros Island and Levant Island, 3 dream islands that don’t require a long-haul flight to reach them. This trio of dream islands is like a promise of paradise just a few nautical miles from the Var coast . And yet, we’re definitely going on a trip to France!
Staying on the island of Porquerolles
The best known, Porquerolles , is home to the most beautiful beaches spread over 2 radically different coasts. On one side there is the wild south with its jagged coast, its coves and its impressive cliffs, and on the other side north, a much gentler coast with its fine sandy beaches popular with tourists especially in summer. The island can also be explored inland between pine forests, scrubland and vines.
Staying on the island of Port-Cros
Port-Cros is the most mountainous and wild of the 3 islands of Hyères but also the most authentic and best preserved . A real little emerald green gemstone in the heart of a turquoise blue sea, the island is ideal for diving and unforgettable hikes . Strolling along the Mediterranean Sea with 50 shades of turquoise but also along the ridge line where the breathtaking views follow one another, you are faced with beautiful surprises at every moment in Port-Cros.
Staying on the island of Levant
As for the Levant, the 3rd component of the Golden Islands, it is shared between a military zone and a naturist village called Heliopolis. A perched village installed on the eastern tip of the island where nudity is the order of the day as soon as the temperatures allow it, with the greatest respect and tolerance of everyone.
Travel to France in Corsica: West Corsica
West Corsica may not mean much to you. And yet this tourist destination is very well known for visits to Porto and the sublime coves of Piana . The region is home to many other authentic villages to visit and unsuspected natural beauties between sea and mountains to explore during a trip to France. West Corsica is located only 30 km north of Ajaccio and it is definitely a territory that we recommend for a rejuvenating holiday far from the hordes of tourists, even in summer. On condition of course that you know how to get lost in this incredible kaleidoscope of landscapes and villages that the destination has.
